One of the most unforgettable encounters in Gunung Leuser. Sumatran orangutans live wild in this rainforest, moving through the trees, feeding and raising their young in their natural habitat.

With their distinctive crests and expressive faces, Thomas’ leaf monkeys are a special sight in the rainforest. They live in small groups and are found only in northern Sumatra.

The Rhinoceros Hornbill is one of the rainforest’s most impressive birds. Its powerful wingbeats can be heard through the forest, often before the bird itself appears among the trees.
